Packaging Props - Organic Pet Superfood

Busting onto the scene with the "most advanced research available, Organic Pet Superfood creates premium, organic, whole-food supplements that activate your pet’s immune system for naturally better health," and they've got some fresh packaging to boot. They've taken recycled paperboard and vegetable ink (for maximum sustainability), and married it with Dieline Award-winning packaging design to create a product you'd be happy to have sitting out in your kitchen. (And they've put some really good stuff on the inside too!)

The good people at Organic Pet Superfood want your "pets to be as healthy, playful and pain-free as possible for the entirety of their lives and [they] know that sound nutrition is the key." So with a focus on quality, efficacy, tolerance, safety, and sustainable business practices, owners James and Michael Crouch have put together a talented team to bring an incredible product to market.

Their line of USDA human-grade certified organic health supplements can be administered daily for preventative measures; and mushroom concentrates, their main ingredient, are seen as the number one adjunctive therapy for pet (and human) cancer treatment worldwide. With four unique formulas (Immunity, Joints, Skin+Coat, and Digestion) it's easy to get your pet the focused immune support it needs. And all of their formulas are free of all gluten, soy, dairy, preservatives, animal by-products, or synthetic ingredients!

We can't wait to see what types of innovative packaging and designs these two brothers from Boulder, Colorado come up with next, because as James and Michael put it, "as we develop our products and packaging we think about these things, which is why our packages are made out of recyclable cardboard paper tubes instead of plastic bottles–it’s more expensive, but we think it’s worth it." And we thank them for it.

How to Sleep: Bowsers Edition

Plomps, with a look on her face that suggests she's just finished lunch and is wondering what's for dinner, channels her inner canine while maxing and relaxing in her stylish Tattersal microvelvet donut bed by Bowsers Pet Products.

Comfy, classic and calming, she whiles away the hours between meals in this beautiful piece that would be a welcome addition to any living room, bedroom, boardroom or SUV.

What's that? You say you like to keep things trendy like that? Well, their in-house interior design team tirelessly stays on top of what's fresh and balling in the world of home decor, so you know you'll be keeping one step ahead of those pesky Joneses.

Durable and fully washable, the inner cushion is tufted to keep its shape in the machine (and can easily be used on its own as a pillow or in a crate), and the outer donut features a removable bolster that can also be washed for those serious, um, spills.

With a full range of sizes, all of their beds are manufactured just outside of Toronto, so they don't even have to travel too far to make it onto your floor.

Sleep tight like that with Bowsers.

New PIJAC City

We made it. They closed the DVP, shut down some key subway stations, they even blocked off a couple of westbound lanes on the 409. (I personally never remembered airports being so difficult to get to; but then again, what do I know?) The powers that be (and maybe Rob Ford) colluded together to keep us away, but we made it (albeit a little late in the day); good thing we weren't actually trying to catch a flight.

Being first time show attendees, we were immediately struck by the sheer managed chaos of the whole place. Big ups to all those who helped organise all those exhibitors, distributors, manufacturers and suppliers so well, effectively turning it into an extremely expedient process that allowed us to collect as many miniature chocolate bars as we possibly could in the shortest amount of time (also, there were some business cards). It was kind of like a grown-up version of Hallowe'en. We even saw someone dressed up as a clown (at least, we hope he was dressed up).

All gimmicks aside, the show went great. We met a lot of cool cats and got a ton of great swag. We handed out some cards and shared our vision with everyone we met. We tasted the new Purebites Freeze Dried Duck Treats (yum!), and we felt the new Canada Pooch Winter Wilderness Jackets (soft!).

The day flew by and before we knew it, security was asking us to leave. So we hid. And then they found us, and with a sterner tone asked us to leave once more. So we did. All in all, it was worth the drive to Airport Road.

A special thanks to the great people at Burgham Sales, Muttluks, Natural Pet Distributors, Tri-Natural, Canada Pooch, Nature's Variety, Smoochy Poochy, Katoby, Leis, Prairie Antlers, Natura, Pet Science, World's Best Cat Litter, Holistic Blend, Amelia Biscuit Company, Oven Baked Tradition, FreedomPoopBags, Orange aPEELDaba-Doo and of course, everyone at PIJAC. We hope to see you there again next year; all the best to you and yours over the next twelve months. Woof.

And to those we missed (especially Bold Raw and Nothing Added), we're sorry! The day got away from us, but we'll be talking to you soon.
